CHICK CULLING. Installation. In industrial facotory farms, about half of the newly hatched chicks are male. As these roosters do not lay eggs are of a differend bread then meat chickens, male chicks are usually killed shortly after hatching. The chicks are grinded or buried alive, gassed or electrocuted. Chick culling is extremely unethical. Trying to pass on that message, I asked my classmates to help me making dozens of chicks from yarn. For more information about chick culling go to the United Poultry Concerns.

CREEPER. Installation. For an assignment on the relation between a sculpture and its support, I made a creeping plant out of voile and filled it with branches of an actual creeper. On the voile I stiched a Dutch poem by Adriaan Roland Holst: Heen en weer geslingerd / zonder rust of duur / was ik maar een wingerd / had ik maar een muur. The poet laments being roled to and fro without peace and expresses his wish to be like a creeper and to have a wall to hold on to.

OBJECT 1. Installation. Two circles of oakwood are connected by a pipe to form a spiral. All materials are reused and reusable.
